FAQ’s-Mandala Workshop

(FAQ’s) Frequently Asked Questions about the MANDALA Workshop

What is a Mandala?  The word “mandala is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit to mean circle.  The mandala appears in all aspects of life:  the celestial circles we call earth, sun, moon and nature, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family and community.  Navajo Indians spend days creating Medicine wheels and sand paintings and Tibetan monks also spend days creating

sand mandalas to demonstrate the impermanence of life.  This workshop is offered in hope of compassionate “healing for ourselves, our communities, our families, our nation and our world.”  I’m inviting ALL who are interested in making stronger connections with others to come participate in this workshop using expressive arts and intuition… healing ourselves, thereby honoring our sacred spirit.

What materials do I need?   ALL supplies will be provided to create your nature mandala and painted mandala.

What is the workshop agenda?   We begin with opening circle meeting friends and learn how I teach using EXPRESSIVE ARTS with nature, meditation, movement, music, storytelling, and the painting process to facilitate this deeply healing and meditative workshop.  I’ll encourage workshop participants to tap into the mindset of living in the moment of NOW.   Tour of the studio so everyone will be able to locate ALL supplies provided.   Participants will first use items provided which were found in nature to create their own nature inspired mandalas.

Why create a mandala?   Creating meditative mandalas may have the potential of changing how we see ourselves, our planet, and perhaps even our own life purpose.  Creating meditative mandalas helps us accept that we are ENOUGH just the way we are!  Creating mandalas helps us find our way back to playful creativity and imagination.  Creating meditative mandalas gives us the opportunity to relax by letting go of that self-judging inner critic voice.

How will I know what to create on my mandala?  Participants will be encouraged to begin thinking of special symbols, lines and shapes which have meaning to them during opening circle and while in the process of using things from nature to create their own unique mandala.  When its time to begin the painting process… those special symbols will be easy to recreate on a

circle board using beautiful lines and colors.  Stencils will also be available for anyone interested in using them during the painting process.  As facilitator, I’ll be available to help anyone who needs assistance while creating their own unique mandala.

What do you mean “EXPRESSIVE ARTS”?  Expressive Arts is therapeutic and healing.  Using this type of art means taking time out of your busy life to just be still… giving yourself the GIFT of time… tapping into the moment of NOW… using paint, pencils, markers, etc. creates an amazing meditative flow which I call the “Portal of Creativity”.   You lose ALL sense of time and are shocked when it’s time to clean up.  Using Expressive Arts begins to be addictive where you crave that joyous feeling of peacefulness, happiness, being focused and engaged in what you are doing!  Students often tell me they can’t believe its time to clean-up when they are in that “Portal of Creativity” flow.  Everyone will be invited to share after mandala painting session providing the opportunity to hold sacred compassionate space for each other while displaying completed creative projects.

What is the cost?  The workshop is $75 which covers ALL materials. Click Here to purchase workshop ticket.
